The Energy Security Safeguard (Safeguard) is the home for the Energy Savings Scheme (ESS). It also includes 2 new schemes that will help address emissions reduction – the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS) and the Renewable Fuel Scheme (RFS). 

The Renewable Fuel Scheme (RFS) was established under the Energy Security Safeguard in December 2021 to encourage the production of green hydrogen in NSW.
