We’re accelerating clean technology solutions from idea to market-ready by providing funding and support throughout the entire product development lifecycle.

We are investing in a diverse range of projects from commercialisation and pilot schemes to start-up ecosystems and cutting-edge infrastructure. This will turbo charge the research, development and commercialisation of technology that will help NSW achieve net zero by 2050.

In 2023, we invested $15.9 million in 12 successful projects as part of our round 1 funding, to create an innovative and thriving clean technology community in NSW.

Round 2 opportunities

Round 2 funding opportunities are now open for applications as part of the Net Zero Manufacturing Initiative.

We are making it more straightforward for eligible researchers, innovators, and entrepreneurs to apply for round 2 grants. This round will focus on fast-tracking the commercial readiness of new clean technologies to get them to market sooner.

There are 2 funding streams to apply for in round 2:

  • Project development stream will provide funding to test the technical and commercial feasibility, viability and/or compliance of a product or project.
  • Commercial readiness stream will target projects and activities that have completed technical demonstrations of the technology and are progressing towards commercialisation.

Use our Net Zero Manufacturing Initiative eligibility checker to help select the right funding stream for your project or product.

NSW Decarbonisation Innovation Hub

One of the ways we’re bringing ideas to reality is by funding the NSW Decarbonisation Innovation Hub to create a thriving entrepreneurial clean technology community in NSW.

Based at the University of New South Wales, the hub brings together government, industry, and researchers to accelerate new clean technology.

This exciting project is helping create new jobs and high-tech businesses, while developing expertise in emission reduction technology.

Clean technology research and development grants

We are also investing $40 million in the research and development (R&D) of commercially viable technologies, services, or processes. These are technologies that have the potential to significantly reduce emissions of high emitting or hard-to-abate sectors within the NSW economy. This initiative is funded and administered by the NSW Environmental Trust.
