There is currently $7 million in funding still available.
This fixed incentive funding option of the electric vehicle fleets incentive is designed to support eligible organisations test electric vehicles in the early stage of their fleet transition. It also offers a streamlined option for smaller fleets.
There is a first allocation of $7 million available which will be distributed on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
Funding overview
Design: The kick-start funding option is a rolling fund that offers a fixed incentive for the procurement of BEVs and smart chargers.
Eligibility: Open to any organisation that operates a fleet of at least 3 vehicles (electric or non-electric), or organisations/individuals that own one licensed taxi in NSW. Vehicle and smart charger funding is available to support a maximum of 10 EVs
Funding: A fixed incentive amount per vehicle and smart charging infrastructure is available, as outlined in the table below:

Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) - up to 4.5 tonnes (e.g., utes and small vans) | $8,000 | $1,200 |
Light trucks – up to 4.5 tonnes | $10,000 | $3,000 |
Applicants that receive funding under the EV fleets incentive will be disclosed on the NSW Government Grants Finder website within 45 days of the funding agreement being entered into.

How to apply for the incentive
Kick-start funding eligibility
Are you looking for funding to pilot a few EVs or do you own a small fleet?
You may be eligible if your organisation:
- has at least three vehicles (ICEVs or BEVs) registered in NSW in your fleet, or you own at least one licensed taxi in NSW, and
- is looking to procure up to 10 brand new BEVs.

Applicants will need to fill out an initial application form, which will be assessed by the EV fleets team. Notification of results will be communicated within four weeks. If successful, you will be invited to sign a funding deed. You will also receive instructions about documentation that will need to be provided (such as vehicle registration certificates) before payment of your incentive can be made to you.
Vehicles must be ordered on or after 24 July 2024 and must be registered in NSW within 120 business days (about 5 ½ months) of notification of a successful application.
