The smart batteries for key government buildings initiative was established to support the installation of battery storage at schools, hospitals and other government buildings with rooftop solar systems.
It is currently funding several pilot projects in key government facilities, in partnership with Property NSW, the NSW Health and the Department of Education.
Although no additional projects will be funded, these pilot projects will demonstrate the value of battery storage in government facilities. They will generate useful case studies and inform the future uptake of battery energy storage solutions across the wider government facilities portfolio.
The NSW Government will continue to lead by example and is funding a range of new renewable energy initiatives through the Net Zero Plan Stage 1: 2020-2030.
