Pipeline management plans

Pipelines

Under the Pipelines Act 1967 and the Pipelines Regulation 2013 all pipeline licensees are required to lodge a pipeline management plan with the Department.

The Regulation requires the plan to comply with the requirements set out under AS 2885.

The licensee is required to obtain an independent third party audit and certification that the plan is in accordance with AS2885 and the pipeline licensee must lodge the auditor's report and certificate of compliance with the Secretary of the Department.

The Regulation also requires the pipeline licensees to monitor their performance and procedures by conducting periodical independent third party audits of their pipeline management system and lodge the auditor's report and certificate of compliance with the Secretary of the Department.

The pipeline licensee is required to specify how and within what time frame they will address any issues found by the auditor.

The auditor's reports and the pipeline licensee's proposed corrective actions are reviewed by the Department staff to ensure that pipeline safety performance remains acceptable.

The reports can be submitted to the following email inbox at [email protected]
