It gives businesses, government, event organisers and households the option to purchase government accredited renewable energy from their electricity supplier or through a decoupled GreenPower provider.*
GreenPower aims to do the following.
- Promote growth and investment in new renewable energy generation.
- Provide consumers with more choice in credible renewable energy products.
- Build confidence in these products through stringent environmental, accreditation and auditing standards.
Since 1997, GreenPower has invested into Australia over $1.2 billion and 450 megawatts of renewable energy. Plus, there are currently over 160 large-scale renewable energy generators accredited with GreenPower.

*Decoupled GreenPower providers do not retail grid electricity to customers, but rather just the portion of GreenPower that a customer wishes to purchase. The decoupled provider then ensures the equivalent amount of GreenPower is added to the grid on the customer's behalf through the purchase and surrender of GreenPower accredited Large-Scale Generation Certificates. This does not impact your standard electricity supply in any way.
To sign up for GreenPower, simply visit greenpower.gov.au and select a GreenPower provider in your state. Or, call your current electricity supplier and ask about their GreenPower accredited solutions.
