$28 million in gas rebates up for grabs
The NSW Government is calling on customers across the State to take advantage of unclaimed gas rebates, with more than $28 million still available to help ease cost of living pressures during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Energy Minister Matt Kean said the rebate puts $110 a year back in the hip-pockets of those who need it most.
“To date, the gas rebate has helped almost 250,000 customers across NSW save about $27 million on their gas bills – but that is only 49 per cent of eligible customers,” Mr Kean said.
“I want each of the 260,000 eligible customers that didn’t apply last year to jump online or on the phone to Service NSW and apply.
“I don’t want to see this funding sitting stagnant in State’s coffers, I want to get the money out the door and into bank accounts.
“We know people are doing it tough, with the unprecedented financial pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic, and we will continue to do everything we can to help ease the cost of living for NSW households.”
You can apply for the NSW Gas Rebate if:
- you're a NSW resident,
- you're an on-supply customer of a gas retailer, or you buy/refill LPG bottled gas for basic household needs; and,
- you hold one of the following:
- Pensioner Concession Card issued by the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) or Services Australia
- Health Care Card issued by Services Australia, or
- DVA gold card marked with either 'War Widow' or 'War Widower Pension', or 'Totally and Permanently Incapacitated' (TPI) or 'Disability Pension' (EDA).
