Upgrading the electricity network to power our state now and for the next generation
Working with communities, industry, and First Nations peoples, we are leading a once-in-a-generation upgrade of the NSW electricity network. Our plan, the Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap (Roadmap), sets out how we are going to transition the electricity network to one that will keep the lights on and put downward pressure on energy bills for years to come. Progress is well underway. We already have enough projects signed up to get us almost halfway to our renewable energy generation goal.
Our move to a more affordable, clean and reliable electricity system is bringing secure, long-term jobs to NSW, creating new apprenticeships, and empowering businesses to bring even more economic opportunity to our local communities.

What is a Renewable Energy Zone?
We’re accelerating investment in renewable energy by building five Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) across NSW. REZs are powered with wind and solar and linked to new storage and transmission lines. The delivery of each REZ is being led by EnergyCo in their role as infrastructure planner. Find out more about the entities delivering the Roadmap here.
Stories from the energy transition
Our move to renewables will bring more affordable energy, new jobs and apprenticeships, and empower business to bring new economic opportunity to communities across the state.
