Latest Fleets incentive guidelines

EV fleets incentive

The EV fleets incentive is funding for eligible businesses to help purchase battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and smart chargers. The funding covers part of the total cost of ownership (TCO) gap between a BEV and an equivalent internal combustion engine vehicle (ICEV), hybrid electric (HEV) or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).

The NSW government wants to help businesses fast-track the transition their fleet to electric vehicles. Between November 2024 and June 2025, we’ll temporarily boost the EV fleets incentive by providing acceleration funding. This means increased funding for the kick-start funding option. For the competitive bid option, the funding has been increased per vehicle smart charger. Please refer to the terms and conditions in our acceleration funding addendum for more details.

Benefits of electrifying your fleet

  • Save operating costs: EVs use electricity instead of petrol and do not need to be serviced to the same extent as ICEVs. This means EVs are significantly cheaper to run and maintain. An average NSW fleet driver is likely to save around $3,100 in running costs per vehicle per year by switching to an EV.
  • Reduce carbon emissions: a fleet of EVs produce no tailpipe emissions making them superior for air quality and human health.  EVs also operate smoothly, more quietly and are cleaner for the environment than an ICEV.
  • Better performance: EVs are considered by experts and users to have greater technical performance than ICEVs.
  • It all adds up: By making sustainable vehicle choices for your businesses, you're saving on costs and helping NSW reduce carbon emissions to reach net zero by 2050
